Configuration
Elgr is preconfigured with the settings shown below. They should work well for most people. However, if you don't communicate in English you should probably check the last item to ban all English e-mail.
To configure, click the Elgr button displayed in your e-mail reader.
Delete e-mail which is obvious spam:
Spammers use a large number of tricks to avoid detection by anti-spam programs. Many of these cannot be seen by you when you read the e-mail, but som can (e.g. when the spammer writes "V.ia.gra" instead of "Viagra"). Elgr analyses the e-mail and detects many of these techniques.
Delete e-mail which is links to a blacklisted domain:
All web sites an email links to are checked agains a database containig blacklisted domains (www.surbl.org).
Delete e-mail which was sent through a blacklisted server:
The servers an email has passed through are checked against a database containing blacklisted senders (www.spamhaus.org).
Delete e-mail which is written in English:
Almost all spam is English and if your native language is not English you should probably check this item.
E-mail from people in the list will not be checked by Elgr, but will be sent directly to the inbox. You must enter the e-mail address or the name as displayed in the "from:" field in e-mail from these people. You can also enter a part of the e-mail address (e.g. "@amazon.com") to whitelist a company.
